Numbers Project - 4/9/14
The Number "17"

The number 17 represents my birthday which is July 17, 1992. In this picture I attempted to capture the number in at least three different ways. The first is obviously that the shoes i gathered are carefully placed together in the form of 17. Along with the shoes i have laces on the bottom shoes forming another 17. In this picture there are a total of 17 different shoes all with a different purpose. I have running shoes, skate shoes, casual shoes, cleats, work boots, moccasins, flip flops, and dress shoes. Each one of these shoes describes a little bit about who I am and what kind of things in enjoy. Some of the shoes are older and worn and some are cleaner and nicer. The picture has also been edited so that the background is completely black and white while all the shoes are still in color making them pop out a little more then usual. Below are some of the stages that my final project went through and the ideas that i had come up with before finally making the decision to go with this picture above.

Point of View, Perspective, Landscape - 3/19/14
(Hannah Cimon and Mike Bono)

This was photo was taken from the perspective of a texting driver. The driver is focused on the phone only and everything around him is blurry. This is true for driving and texting because it takes the focus off of the road making this act extremely dangerous. We chose to use this photo because we felt it had a powerful message. People often think they are capable of texting while driving and that they can still be fully aware of their surroundings but this photo gives a good perspective of this situation and how that is not that case. The surroundings are still visible but not clear making it difficult to notice other cars or incidents that require fast reaction time. It also forced the driver to take a hand off the wheel making it even more dangerous. It is rare that you see this perspective it is usually just the phone when you are the one taking part in the act so we decided to zoom out and give a clearer idea of what is really going on.

World Record Project - 3/5/14

The world record for the largest skateboard was set by Joe Ciaglia (California Skateparks) and Rob Dyrdek (professional skateboarder and entrepreneur). The skateboard is an exact replication to one of Rob's signature skateboards. It's 36 feet 7 inches long compared to the actual size of a skateboard being 2 and half feet. The picture i have taken shows the size of an actual skateboard compared to the size of toy skateboard right next to it.

UPC Barcode Thumbnails - 3/2/14

Life and Death Picture - 2/24/14

Three Frames Project 2/18/14

My desk - Homework and studying is about to happen in this photo. The expressions one could get from this picture would be frustration, hard work, dedication, and lack of focus.

West Kennedy Hall - What's currently happening in this photo is my journey back home after dinner while the sun sets behind the building here on UT campus. Expressions you may see in this are laughter, satisfaction, happiness, and leisure.

Causeway to Clearwater Beach - Whats happening in this picture is a drive in my friends truck to Clearwater alongside the palm trees that line the water. The expressions here would be happiness, relaxing, and mellow.

Shapes Project - Squares, Triangles, and Circles

Mike Bono, Damian Arbuckle, Ashley Mastrogiavanni

The picture of the Spartan warrior represents “Shape” while the picture of the UT basketball court represents “Space”. The Spartan is in the shape of a human, sculpted out of a metal and polished a bronze color. Among the sculpture there are many shapes to see. The shape of a circle for his shield, triangle shape in his armor, and long rectangle shape from his sword.  The space is empty because nobody is there. Its an empty space consisting of basketball nets, curtain dividers and lights hanging from ceiling. You can see the school colors red, white, and black.

The picture of the hallway represents “Line” and the other picture is a painting from the UT art studio representing “Color”. The hallway in my dorm is a good display of distance and how the lines all run to one point which would be found at the end of the hall way. Because of these lines moving down the hallway it makes it seem like it’s getting smaller and smaller the further down you look. The painting is of a curtain hanging on a wall, you can see so many colors in this its hard to point any out. The small details capture about all of the colors in the rainbow or color wheel. Generally the colors you see in this painting are a warmer tone.

Unity-  The poles in stadium have many different small blocks that come together to make a design on the poles.  You can see in the picture that different blocks have different colors and textures that bring the design together as a whole.

Proportion- stadium outside eating area:  The eating area looks amazing from above.  It has a couple of circular features that provide shade for the people around them but also has different structures that create a half circle around the outside.

Variety- Bridge over the walkway:  This bridge is created by many different shapes, including a couple of cylinders and the structure on the left side of the bridge has different textures on the top of it.  The color change at the top is another way the structure has variety.

Rhythm- Straz: The Straz dorm has many rhythmic ways.  The windows flow on all sides of the building which creates a rhythm.  Also, the roof of the building has a rhythm with different sizes of the borders along the top.

Movement- The Martinez building has different patterns and textures that move the eye around the building.  It has a pattern that allows the eye to travel along the pattern easily.    Also, the cars and people walking in this picture have given more areas for the eye to focus.

Balance: If this picture were cut in half it would be the same on both sides. Each side would have: 2 palm trees, a green shrubbery, an eagle wing, the same part of the statue, and the same part of the rock formation. The center point is the statue and everything around it is at visual equilibrium.

Emphasis: When looking at this landscape the first thing that catches the eye is the tall green stalk of the flower. It is the first thing you notice because it is the largest figure, a different shape, and is placed directly in the center.

Harmony: There is a balance use of similar elements throughout this picture. There is a repetition of: the rectangular red bricks, the shape of the windows, the curved bricks above the window, the straight line from the 2 different parts of the roof, and the line in the center of each window.

Texture: The top of each section is very rough to the touch. The front is a lot smoother until your finger touches the small cracks. Certain parts are rounder and stick out more compared to the rest or the bark of the palm tree.
